Job Description
In this role, you will develop and validate models to solve applied clinical problems and help build toward our vision of the future of machine learning. You will engage with a cross-functional group of stakeholders both within discovery and across the company, contributing to model development projects from scoping to production and delivery.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of relevant experience in a technical role with a focus on ML;
- Strong background in applying ML to real-world problems with a solid understanding of statistical fundamentals;
- Experience working in production development environments with formal version control, Python, and SQL;
- Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence decision-making without direct authority;
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences;
- Passion for working in a fast-paced, technology-driven culture;
- Experience with deep learning and LLMs;
- Prior ML experience in a healthcare setting;
- Knowledge of bias risks in ML, health equity research, or experience working with underrepresented groups in clinical research.
Responsibilities:
- Interface with internal scientific stakeholders and customers to understand data needs for high-quality research;
- Develop models to transform raw clinical data into high-quality research variables using LLMs, traditional ML, and NLP techniques;
- Collaborate with quantitative scientists and oncologists to validate models for generating scientific insights;
- Work closely with other Data Scientists to enhance ML capabilities and explore innovative approaches to extracting clinical data from unstructured health records;
- Partner with software engineers to productionize, scale, and monitor machine learning models;
- Improve model performance, scalability, and reliability in clinical applications.
