Middle Data Operations Engineer

Job  Description

In this role, you will work with our customer who develops and deploys systematic financial strategies across a variety of asset classes and global markets. The company seeks to produce high-quality predictive signals (alphas) through its proprietary research platform to employ financial strategies focused on exploiting market inefficiencies. Its teams work collaboratively to drive the production of alphas and financial strategies – the foundation of a sustainable, global investment platform.

Requirements:

• Practical understanding of ETL processes and best practices;

• Proficiency in Linux/Unix for strong command-line skills, including the ability to debug and troubleshoot in a terminal environment;

• Proficiency in Python;

• Hands-on experience with data processing and pipeline operations is essential;  

• Strong communication skills in English (oral and written);

• Ability to analyze complex problems, determine root causes, and implement data-driven solutions;

• A positive, team-oriented attitude with a strong work ethic.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with tools like PySpark or Airflow is a plus.

Additional Considerations:  

• Prior experience in financial services or data science is beneficial but not mandatory;

• Must be adaptable to fast-changing environments;

• Willingness to cover shifts until 21:00 Mexico time and participate in light weekend coverage (on a rotational basis).

Responsibilities:

• Managing daily operations of data pipelines;

• Investigating, troubleshooting, and escalating data issues;

• Enhancing process efficiency by developing SDKs, runbooks, and automation scripts;

• Collaborating with internal teams and external vendors to align data operations.
