Job Description

The Head of SAP Centre of Excellence (CoE) is a pivotal leadership role responsible for driving technological innovation, delivery excellence, and talent development across global SAP initiatives. The position emphasizes building and nurturing a high-performance team of SAP professionals while ensuring that cutting-edge SAP solutions are consistently delivered to meet business and client needs. 

This role requires a proactive leader who excels in managing talent, fostering technical expertise, and delivering complex projects at the highest standards. In close collaboration with the CTO office and SAP Practice Leader, the Head of SAP CoE will steer the development of a world-class SAP Center of Excellence capabilities that not only aligns with the organization’s strategic goals but also promotes continuous improvement and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading SAP transformations within a Global SI and outsourcing environment, focusing on optimizing business processes, maximizing team potential, and ensuring seamless project execution. 

Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field. 

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in SAP area, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role within a Global SI or IT outsourcing company;
  • Proven track record in leading large-scale SAP transformations, including experience with SAP S/4HANA and other modern SAP technologies;
  • Experience in managing SAP projects, including project scoping, budgeting, resource management, and risk mitigation. 

Skills & Competencies:

  • Expertise in SAP systems and key modules (e.g., SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA, SAP BTP, consulting experience in SAP FI-CO or SAP MM-SD would be a plus) and technical architecture, including SAP solutions customizations/development and integration with different other systems;
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate and develop high-performing teams;
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills;
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to align SAP capabilities with business objectives;
  • Strong understanding of enterprise architecture, IT governance, and business process optimization;
  • Knowledge of industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and SAP innovations. 

Certifications (Preferred):

  • SAP certification (e.g., SAP Certified Application Associate/Professional, SAP Certified Technology Professional, etc.);
  • PMP or Agile certification is a plus.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership: 

  • Develop and execute the strategic roadmap for the SAP Centre of Excellence in a global company, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and digital transformation initiatives;
  • Work closely with the CTO office to align SAP initiatives with the company’s broader technology strategy and innovation goals;
  • Collaborate with the SAP Practice Leader to drive the design, positioning, estimation and implementation of innovative SAP solutions that support business growth and operational efficiency for clients.  

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of SAP consultants, developers and architects ensuring continuous and sustainable team and its competency growth;
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the CoE;
  • Provide coaching and development opportunities to team members, promoting knowledge sharing and skills enhancement. 

Project Management:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, business stakeholders, the CTO office, and SAP Practice Leader to define requirements, prioritize initiatives, and ensure the successful integration of SAP solutions;
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of SAP projects;
  • Monitor project risks and issues, implementing mitigation strategies to ensure project success. 

Innovation & Continuous Improvement:

  • Drive the adoption of new SAP technologies (e.g., S/4HANA Private and Public Cloud, SAP BTP Integration/Development/Analytics/AI, SAP SuccessFactors and HCM, SAP CX/Hybris) to optimize business processes and improve user experience for global clients;
  • Stay updated on the latest SAP developments and industry trends, identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement within the SAP implementation and outsourcing sector;
  • Lead the implementation of best practices in SAP solution design, development, and deployment for a diverse range of industries and especially for CPG/Pharma, Manufacturing and FSI. 

Business Alignment & Stakeholder Management:

  • Act as the primary liaison between the SAP CoE, key business stakeholders, the CTO office, SAP Practice Leader, and global clients, ensuring effective communication and collaboration; 
  • Align SAP initiatives with client business objectives, ensuring that the SAP CoE delivers value by improving client performance, efficiency, and agility;
  • Support relationships with external vendors, SAP partners, and service providers to ensure quality service delivery and cost-effectiveness for clients. 

Financial Management:

  • Develop and manage the budget for the SAP CoE, ensuring efficient allocation of resources across multiple client engagements;
  • Ensure cost-effective operation of SAP CoE, identifying opportunities to optimize costs and improve ROI for the organization.
